Seed starter trays were developed to germinate seeds with minimal effort. Anyone who starts from seed knows the risk of overwatering, underwatering, damping off, algae, mould and all the risks to tiny seedlings.
We went on vacation in March of 2024 and left the supervision of hundreds of seedlings to our son’s care for 2 weeks using clay trays designed to be ignored. He filled up the water reservoir on day 7; that was it. We came home to hundreds of healthy, happy pepper plants and have been using these trays non-stop since then.
Seed Starters
Seed starters use an “open body” clay which allow both air and water to wick through the walls of the pot. We have found that they allow just the right amount of moisture needed by seeds, seedlings and microgreens while the sides do not attract mold or mildew like traditional earthenware.
